It’s Groundhog Day … Again

-Groundhog Day
Happy 02.02! This date holds a special significance, marking several different traditions and celebrations. We are now one month into 2025, and one step closer to spring. But this is also a day of legends, rituals, and a certain cult film that concerns the essence of transformation and the concept of time.
Groundhog Day: The Tradition
Today is also Groundhog Day. Every year on this date in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, a groundhog—known as Punxsutawney Phil—emerges from his burrow. According to tradition, if Phil does not see his shadow, spring will come early. If he does see his shadow, we can expect six more weeks of winter. At first, Phil indulges in hedonistic escapades because they magically don’t have any consequences, then gradually he falls into despair, and then finally embarks on a journey of transformation to become a better, more whole version of himself. Only then is he allowed to wake up on February 3rd.
